I right click on the desktop, go to properties, click on the desktop tab. All of the options are shaded in gray. When i try to right click on a picture on the internet or elsewhere.... the set as background button is also shaded in gray. I thought I had a virus but scanned... nothing. I don't know what to do... someone please help!!How do you change your wallpaper on windows xp?
It may be that there is a Group Policy in effect that prohibits changing the Wallpaper. If you have admin rights on your computer, run gpedit.msc and under User Configuration

expand Administrative Templates %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; and Select Display.

Make sure the setting %26quot;Prevent Changing Wallpaper%26quot; is either Not Configured or Disabled. How do you change your wallpaper on windows xp?
